Comment spam -- already?

So after this site being up only a few weeks, I have already managed to get some cowardly spammers to show up. I thought I could get away with not moderating comments, but I was wrong.

I can't believe how fast it happened. I mean, there isn't much up here yet and I haven't had a lot of visitors, but somehow the spammers still found it.

So, all comments are now being moderated by default. I am going to look at making it so that if you have left at least two good comments, then your comment will show up automatically. That should help cut down on the moderation work when its needed.

Hey not a bad CakePHP blog. I am working on one myself. As far as spam goes, I would check out Akismet.com which is a fantastic spam filter. Good luck! Lose the moderation... :)

@Benjamin: Thanks for the compliment! The blog definitely has a few kinks to work out but its serving me pretty well so far. I have looked at akismet and plan to integrate it soon. I agree, the moderation is stupid and it will be removed. Its just filler for now until a better anti spam system is put in place.
